Iowa Plains Local Workforce Development Area is the planned successor to four local development areas (Western Iowa, Northwest Iowa, North Central Iowa, and Southwest Iowa) who voted in early 2023 to dissolve.

Iowa Workforce Development formally became responsible for providing workforce services to the 42-county region on July 1.

The Iowa Plains Local Workforce Development Area is a key vehicle for providing workforce development services in 42 counties in Western Iowa. Guided by the Iowa State Workforce Development Board, Iowa Plains provides services to Iowa job seekers through the region’s IowaWORKS job centers.
